Description

Making a Scene Drama Camps are for children aged 8 to 17.   Join us this summer for an exciting week of creativity, where imaginations are opened, and confidence is nurtured - all in an informal and fun-filled environment!

For complete beginners as well as experienced young actors, Drama Camp is the perfect place to develop confidence and creative skills.

Drama Camp is a safe and nurturing environment, where community is emphasized, friendship is valued, and personal growth is celebrated.

Camp leaders (senior Drama students under the supervision of a Drama faculty member) are chosen not only for their exceptional skills, but equally for their proven ability to be outstanding role models for young people.

Each Camp features plays, theatre games, basic sets and costumes, and more to help develop creative thinking skills, self-confidence, brainstorming, teambuilding, and communication.  Camp leaders guide the students through the art of storytelling and character development while exploring freedom of movement and self-expression onstage and behind the scenes.

IMPROVISATION

Bring out the best in yourself by learning "to live in the moment" on stage.  Improvisation is acting without a text - here and now!  It's great fun and, once you are at home with the technique, you will love it...forever!

CHARACTERIZATION

Become "someone else"!  We'll show you how.   It's a new world that only actors know exists:  explore that inner world in creative ways!

VOICE AND MOVEMENT

Want to be heard on stage?  Want your body to work for you? No special skills required:  easy to learn and fund techniques for improving your voice and your movement abilities!

BEHIND THE SCENES

**NEW** Learn about what takes place behind the stage!  Have you ever wondered what it takes to design and make costumes?  Where do weird stage props come from?  How do they make the lights do that?  Enter the world of technical theatre and design, exploring everything that goes into creating a visual masterpiece.

In each week, two camps run simultaneously, one camp for those younger campers, and another for those older campers.

Please let us know if you are attending camp with a friend!  And please contact us at 306-966-2323 or drama@usask.ca  if there are any special concerns that we can help you address.
