Course Description

Key areas of operational excellence are Lean and Six Sigma. Lean and Six Sigma are methods that provide organizations with tools to improve the capacity of their business processes. By increasing performance and decreasing process variation, organizations can see defect reduction and improvements in areas such profits, employee morale, and quality of products or services.

In this program, participants are introduced to and explore process improvement tools, terminology, principles, and analytical techniques that business professionals use to investigate key issues within the operations function. Understanding how the sources of waste produce operational inefficiencies and the root causes of wastes is the first step in operational excellence. Participants will learn how to apply the tools, methods, and techniques to the office processes where they can see the immediate benefit.

Metrics are a key tool discussed as a way to monitor throughput, quality, and productivity before and after implementation. Participants will learn about the power behind these metrics to implement operational improvements and to maintain the gains created through process improvement projects.

Lastly, participants will be able to take their learnings and apply them immediately to their own work processes.

This program is part of the Operational Excellence Certificate.
