Description

  • Participants are REQUIRED to complete Module 1 before participating in Module 2 and 3. 
  • NOTE: Participants will be sent the link to Module 1 two weeks prior to the virtual session. You must complete Module 1 prior to participating in the virtual session (Module 2 and Module 3). If you do not complete Module 1 in time for the virtual session, you will not be able to participate in the virtual session.  

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the support provided to a person who may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis.

  • Recognize signs that a person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis
  • Have conversations that encourage a person to:
    • Talk about declines in their mental well-being
    • Discuss professional and other supports that could help with recovery to improve mental well-being
    • Reach out to supports
  • Assist in a mental health or substance use crisis
  • Use MHFA actions to maintain one’s own mental well-being

 ‘First Aiders’ do not take on the role of professionals – they do not diagnose or provide any counselling or therapy.

Refund policy: We require a ten day cancellation notice prior to the start date of your workshop. If you cancel within the notice period, you will receive a refund, less a $15.00 plus tax non-refundable administrative fee. If you withdraw outside of this timeline, no refund will be issued. If the course is cancelled by Usask due to low enrollment a full refund will be provided to the participants. 

Prior to the course start date, you will receive an email with an access code for the self-directed online component of the training. Once you receive this code, we can no longer provide a refund. This self-directed component takes about two hours and must be completed prior to the training day.
