Course Description
This self-directed online module consists of two parts that will review fundamental concepts of equity, diversity, and inclusion with a focus on Indigenous wellness. The first part will be an interactive module that will provide an overview of the theoretical basis to equity, diversity, and inclusion and opportunities for both personal and professional reflection. The second part will be a presentation on Indigenous wellness that will explore cultural safety and humility and provide you with strategies to ensure culturally safe environments for Indigenous patients.

Learner Outcomes
There are two main sections of this course with distinct learning objectives:
After completing the first part of this module, you will be able to:
- Describe key elements of cultural safety and recognize their role in person-centred care.
- Identify why cultural safety training may result in a pharmacy environment free of racism and discrimination, leading to better patient health outcomes.
- Reflect on personal and systemic bias and how bias affects health equity.
- Consider pharmacy professional responsibility in ensuring culturally safe patient care.
- Formulate an enduring personal learning plan based on personal EDI knowledge gaps and learning needs.
After completing the second part of this module, Indigenous Wellness, and Cultural Safety Video with Len Pierre, you will be able to:
- Summarize key terminology.
- Discuss why Indigenous cultural safety, in particular, is vital to person-centred care.
- Outline the historical context of Indigenous health inequality and how it impacts current health disparities faced by Indigenous peoples.
- Summarize elements of Indigenous Wellness.
- Describe strategies for health care practitioners to ensure culturally safe environments for Indigenous patients.
