ESLP 01B - Developing Writing Skills for Academic Success
Course Description
In this course, students will advance their academic writing skills through writing advanced academic paragraphs essays and improving their grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure and mechanics through structured writing sessions and instructor feedback.Learner Outcomes
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Use a variety of compound and complex sentence types.
- Construct a multilevel essay outline after brainstorming ideas.
- Write an academic essay including an introduction with a thesis, body paragraphs with topic sentences and well-developed main ideas, and a conclusion.
- Incorporate sources (quotes and paraphrases) into their writing using APA citation style.
- Create grammatically correct adjective clauses and passive constructions

Advanced Self-assessment
- I speak and write main ideas, details, and opinions about familiar and abstract topics in discussions, presentations, written paragraphs and essays.
