Course Description

At the end of this course you will be able to: 

  1. Describe current rates of HIV transmission in Saskatchewan with a focus on heterosexual transmission and transmission rates among women.

  1. Understand transmission of HIV in Saskatchewan with a focus on vertical transmission. 

  1. Understand the use of PrEP in people who are pregnant or may become pregnant, and have an increased risk of acquiring HIV.

  1. Describe treatment for people living with HIV in Saskatchewan, specifically during pregnancy. 

  1. Understand prevention of vertical HIV transmission in high, intermediate, and low risk of transmission. 

  1. Review the newest breastfeeding guidelines.
