Description

For students who have completed Cree 2 or who have comparable Cree language skills.

  • Students will review the following elements:
  • Greet & ask how someone is doing
  • Indicate & ask how someone is doing
  • Ask & indicate where someone is from
  • Ask & indicate one’s name
  • Ask & indicate who one’s parent is using the correct term of kinship
  • Ask for & indicate someone’s age
  • Ask for & indicate the type of job one has
  • Ask for & indicate a telephone number
  • Take leave of a conversation


Students will learn & master the following elements:

  • Use & indicate correctly 15 kinship terms
  • Use proper prefixes to indicate 1st person possessive
  • Use proper prefixes to indicate 2nd person possessive          
  • Use proper prefixes/suffixes for paternal uncle & maternal aunt
  • Cree Roman Orthography: identify & enunciate all consonants & vowels
  • Welcome, Thank & Express gratitude to someone
  • Simple verb commands: for eg., sit, stand, listen, please help me, don’t help me, do it correct, do it right, say it again, quit, come here
  • Count from 0 to 30
  • Ask for & indicate likes & dislikes

All participants must be at least 16 years old when classes start.

Prerequisites

You must have been assessed at spoken level 3 or completed level 2.
