Description

Participants will learn routine infection prevention and control practices (IPC), including hand hygiene and environmental cleaning procedures. The course also covers using personal protective equipment (PPE), supporting pharmacists to protect themselves and their patients.

Additionally, learners will explore pharmacy-specific protocols for patient interactions and medication handling. Designed for pharmacy staff, managers, and proprietors, this module emphasizes practical applications to help maintain a safe healthcare environment.

Learner Outcomes

  1. Describe the chain of infection model and understand infection prevention and control practices that break the chain of infection.

  2. Explain routine practices and additional precautions (RPAP) for infection prevention and control.

  3. Demonstrate hand hygiene procedures and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  4. Support creating policies for pharmacy-specific infection prevention and control procedures.

  5. Promote infection prevention and control strategies in the pharmacy to keep pharmacy staff, patients, and visitors healthy.
