ASCE M01C - Leadership in Arts Management
Description
This micro-credential will equip learners with the introductory skills to learn about the financial, artistic, and relational leadership required of successful arts organizations. Specifically, the information in this course will provide the skills to people who are involved in arts organizations to improve their understanding of arts management leadership. It will also be beneficial to anyone interested in a staff position in an artistic organization, Executive Directors of arts organizations, administrators in arts organizations, business students, fine arts students, board members in not-for-profit arts organizations.
This micro-credential is delivered as a mix of asynchronous online learning within Canvas and weekly live synchronous sessions on ZOOM.
- Access to the course materials on the Canvas learning platform will be available several days before the first online class. Each week there will be learning materials to explore and module activities and assignments to complete within Canvas.
- There will be mandatory live ZOOM sessions scheduled as part of this course. These ZOOM sessions are opportunities to practice and demonstrate the skills explored within the Canvas Modules.

Mark Turner is the CEO and Creative Producer of the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra (SSO) and has successfully managed the SSO to be a vibrant and financially thriving arts organization in the community of Saskatoon.

- Perform the necessary financial resources (budgeting) skills, focusing on the capacity to determine how money will be spent to get the work done, and account for these expenditures. This will also include the ability to demonstrate a functional understanding needed to write a successful grant and create a donor relations engagement plan. Learners will be assessed using a competency-based system. To receive the digital badge, learners will need to demonstrate competence in each of the above competencies.
