Description

In this sculptural exploration of the human head and face, students will construct a head armature in clay or plasticine, then build a basic bust with correct facial landmarks. Focus areas include skull geometry, facial proportions, blocking out major volumes, and head construction using simple planes (Loomis method or similar). Key concepts include symmetry, front vs. profile views, and rhythms of the face. Skill development is guided by plaster references, self-portraiture, and/or life models. An optional weekend workshop is available for mold-making.
