Description

This course will introduce students to the fundamentals of portrait and figurative drawing: measuring proportions, blocking out lights and shadows, and creating natural textures, such as skin, hair, and clothing with a variety of mediums. We will also draw inspiration from a range of techniques and styles by other masters, including Käthe Kollwitz’s emotive portraits and figures, Rembrandt’s expressive pen and ink sketches, and Jim Dine’s mixed media experiments. Students will also get experience drawing from a live model on two separate occasions throughout the course.

Refund Policy: Students may withdraw from a course at any time. A $100.00 withdrawal fee is charged for withdrawing from a course 2 weeks prior to the course start date. No course refund is processed after this time. Non-attendance does not constitute notice of withdrawal.  

Cancellation Policy: The Arts & Sciences Non-Credit Programming Unit reserves the right to cancel courses when there is insufficient enrollment, in these cases a full refund will be issued. No transfers will be allowed from one term to another term. If a class is cancelled during the term, these hours will be rescheduled and made up. However, if a student misses a class, no rescheduling or make-up classes occur.
